It's 10:50pm on Thursday th 18th
Unlike English, which has many optional contractions, Spanish has only two, and they are not optional. Here they are:
"de el" =>
del
(Salió del estacionamiento)
He came out of the parking garage
"a el" =>
al
(Fui al restaurante)
I went to the restaurant
There is one single exception to this rule. When él is a personal pronoun referring to a person, it is never contracted with "de" or "a".
Se lo di a él.
I gave it to him.
Es de él.
It's his.
